It's all about the kids these days!

January and February have proven to be quite eventful for Hannah and Eva.
Both girls entered the Reflections Program again. This is a yearly PTA sponsored event to encourage art, music, and literature in children. This year's theme was "I Wonder Why..." Hannah ended up winning first place in photography. Her collage was based on "I wonder why people we love have to die." She took photos at the cemetery and made a collage. Eva won second place in literature. She wrote and illustrated a poem.
Eva also entered the Nevada Reading Week t-shirt contest. The theme was "Wild About Reading." The grand prize winner's design is featured on t-shirts. Even though her design didn't make it onto the t-shirts, she ended up coming in second place in the elementary division. Eva was honored at a CCSD school board meeting on Feb.23rd along with the other winners. (See photo.)
Hannah has had several performances with the Instrument Ensemble at school, and more are on the way. She plays assorted percussion instruments, such as xylophones, glockenspiels, contra bass bars, and so on. This has made Daddy very happy!
Both girls are also learning to play the recorder in music class at school. What this means at the Weidenfeld house is that on any given day, one can often hear two slightly different versions of Hot Cross Buns going on simultaneoulsy. (Oh the joy...)
Needless to say, we have been very busy keeping up with all of Hannah and Eva's activities. Maybe next month we will have some news of our own to share. Until then, dear readers. (Okay, I stole that last line from Stephen King. So sue me!)
